This is a big swing game for the Red Eddies. A win against a traditional power would put them into the top half of Class A North. They could be encouraged by rival Lewiston playing the Stags close, but the Red Eddies also had a nail-biter last week.

Somebody has to win. And the team that does gets the advantage toward a Class A North playoff spot. The Blue Devils played Cheverus close last week, while the Rams were blown out at Bonny Eagle. Lewiston might feel some confidence from those respective results.

OXFORD HILLS/BUCKFIELD (1-2) AT PORTLAND (2-1)

The Vikings had their hearts broken at home last week. Facing the Bulldogs, they don’t want their confidence broken, too. Portland is starting to round into form after faltering in its season opener.

HAMPDEN (1-2) AT MT. BLUE (0-3)

The Cougars’ offense hasn’t scored in its past two games. Thankfully the Broncos’ defense hasn’t been very stout this season, giving up 149 points while going 1-2.

LEAVITT (1-2) AT MARSHWOOD (1-2)

The Hornets’ road trip continues, with a commute to York County for the second week in a row. Both of these teams are hungry for a win and to get back to .500. Neither team expected to be in this desperate position.

SPRUCE MOUNTAIN (1-2) AT GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER (0-3)

What a difference a year makes for the Patriots, who were 3-0 heading into a week four matchup with the Phoenix last year. Now they are winless, with just six total points to their name. Spruce Mountain wants a bounce-back after getting humbled by Cape Elizabeth.

MOUNTAIN VALLEY (2-1) AT WELLS (3-0)

Two old rivals meet once again with high stakes entering midseason. The Warriors had their first close game last week. Expect the Falcons to give them another one, if not a run for their money. This one will no doubt be physical.

LAKE REGION (0-3) AT POLAND (0-3)

Traction. That’s what both teams and both programs are looking for. The Lakers have been slightly better at scoring points so far this season. The Knights could use a boost from their home crowd to get their first win of the season.

LISBON (1-1) AT DIRIGO (1-1)

It’s only the third game of the season for both of these teams, but playoff positioning could be at stake in this one. Each team has a blowout win and a loss to Winthrop/Monmouth to its name. The Greyhounds were off last week, while the Cougars couldn’t hold onto a lead against the Ramblers.

WINTHROP/MONMOUTH (3-0) AT OLD ORCHARD BEACH (1-1)

The Ramblers made it through their first three games unscathed, but by the skin of their teeth in their last two. The Seagulls will push them, and Ramblers coach Dave St. Hilaire is well aware of that fact.

MEDOMAK VALLEY (1-1) AT OAK HILL (2-0)

Saturday, 1:30 p.m.

It’s been all home cooking so far for the defending champion Raiders. They will be favored in this one, but the next three games are all on the road against some of the toughest teams in the division.
