WILTON — Voters will be asked at a special town meeting Tuesday to clarify the process for using funds from the town’s Tax-Increment Financing account.

A  presentation by Central Maine Power on the proposed substation project is also on the agenda, as well as a public hearing on junkyard permits.

The public hearings and presentation begin at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, at the Town Office.

Voters will be asked to approve amendments to the Comfort Inn TIF District and adopt a first amendment to the Wilton Downtown Municipal TIF District and Downtown Omnibus Development Program.

“The amendment gives the Board of Selectpersons the sole discretion to make all future decisions regarding the municipal TIF projects funded out of the town’s TIF revenues in any given year and in what order of priority,” according to the amendment.

Appropriations for projects will not need to come before a town meeting unless there is municipal bonded debt. The board will report on all related TIF revenues and expenses in the town’s annual report.

In other business, representatives from Central Maine Power will provide information on the proposed substation for Main Street in East Wilton. They will also listen to concerns from the public, Town Manager Rhonda Irish said. 

The board will consider issuing three junkyard permits following the public hearing. Applicants are: Michael Stickney, 54 Birch St.; Collins Enterprises Inc., 445 Rte. 2 East; and Howard C. Haggan Jr., doing business as Haggan Enterprises, Wilkins Avenue.

Copies of the town meeting warrant are available at the Town Office.
