LEWISTON — Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice announces it has reached Partner Level Two status with the We Honor Veterans volunteer program.
This demonstrates a resolve to provide the best care and support possible for veteran hospice patients.
Partner Level One requires that organizations provide veteran-centered education for staff and volunteers, and identify patients with military experience. AHCH began the program by providing several veteran-to-veteran matches where a veteran volunteer is matched with a veteran patient.
AHCH has 14 veteran volunteers and has performed more than 90 pinning ceremonies, where a veteran volunteer recognized a veteran’s service in front of their family, friends and AHCH staff.
To reach Level Two, ACHC built organizational capacity to provide quality care for veterans. To achieve this, AHCH provided veteran-specific presentations throughout the year to staff and volunteers, as well as community education, presenting to two different veteran organizations. We Honor Veterans information was provided during orientation for volunteers and new staff.
AHCH plans to continue moving forward toward Level Three status, while maintaining what it is doing and continuing to provide the highest level of care to all patients and their families.
