NORWAY — Western Foothills Land Trust will host a variety of opportunities during the Great Maine Outdoor Weekend.
North Hill Trail Hike: 9 a.m. Friday, Sept. 16, in Buckfield. This is a moderately challenging 2-mile hike on a new single-track trail overlooking South Pond. Hikers should meet at the town garage on John Ellingwood Road.
Hawk Mountain Sunset Hike: 6 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, in Waterford. Participants will take a 40-minute gently inclined hike to a spectacular lookout during sunset. The trailhead is on Hawk Mountain Road, south of Mill Hill Road.
Mountain Bike Rally: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, at Shepard’s Farm Preserve in Norway. Mountain bikers can explore woodland and pasture trails. Those attending should bring picnic lunch. Rental bikes will be available. Registration is required. Parking is ½ mile north of Lake Road off Crockett Ridge Road.
Noyes Mountain Hike: 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, in Greenwood. This is a 1-mile hike up intermediate twitch trails to a viewpoint. Hikers should meet at 172 Richardson Hollow Road, west of Upton Brothers Road. Registration is required.
Canines, Birds and Cats: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18, at Shepard’s Farm Preserve in Norway. This is a canine agility fun trial. Those participating should bring picnic lunch. Registration is required.
