PARIS — A Sumner man who was recently sentenced to 25 years in prison for sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl had three years added to his sentence Monday afternoon at Oxford County Superior Court.

Kevin Ayer, 49, was sentenced Aug. 12 on three counts of gross sexual assault and one count of unlawful sexual contact.

The Class A crimes occurred in Lewiston between Aug. 1 and Aug. 18, 2013.

While out on bail, Ayer was charged last year with violating conditions of release and unlawful sexual touching. He was accused of inappropriately touching two teenage girls he hired to clean his trailer. He also sought to solicit sex acts in exchange for money, according to the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office.

On Monday afternoon, Ayer was sentenced to an additional three years in prison on an unlawful sexual contact charge.

The three-year sentence will run concurrently with his 25-year sentence, said Active-Retired Justice Robert Clifford.

The Class A crime, stemming from criminal conduct committed after the 2013 sexual assault, was reduced to a Class C crime as part of a plea deal with the District Attorney’s office.

Ayer’s criminal history includes multiple convictions for criminal trespass, assault, burglary and theft over two decades.
