NORWAY — The Norway Historical Society is inviting residents to its latest program at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, where a retired Maine State Trooper will revisit a cold case from nearly 80 years ago.

The program will take place inside the Norway Grange Hall.

According to a news release by the Historical Society, the program focuses on a cold case from 1937, when local doctor James Littlefield and his wife were found murdered in South Paris.

Percy Turner, a retired Maine State Trooper, began looking into the case. He learned that two different people – a teenager and a local deputy sheriff – were arrested, tried and convicted of this crime, based on two entirely different stories. Both went to prison and were later exonerated and released.

The program is free and open to the public.
