POW/MIA Day ceremony

FARMINGTON — Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10881 will hold a Prisoner of War and Missing in Action Day ceremony at 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, at Meetinghouse Park on Main Street.

POW/MIA Day is observed the third Friday in September.

Land trust seeking public comment

BRIDGTON — A public comment period is now open as part of Loon Echo Land Trust’s accreditation process.

The Land Trust Alliance Commission, the accrediting body, will accept signed, written comments on pending applications. Comments must relate to how Loon Echo Land Trust complies with national quality standards. These standards address the ethical and technical operation of a land trust. A complete list of standards may be viewed at www.landtrustaccreditation.org/help-and-resources/indicator-practices.

The Land Trust Accreditation Commission conducts an extensive review of each applicant’s policies and programs.

Fall craft EXTRA-vaganza

LIVERMORE FALLS — The Livermore Falls Women’s Club will host the Fall Craft EXTRA-vaganza from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at the Livermore Community Building on Church Street.

The event is for those who started a project but will never finish and need someone to take it off their hands.

Participants can earn money for the holidays by selling extra fabric, yarn, scrapbooking/woodworking supplies, patterns, craft books, cook books, etc.

Cost is $15 to rent an 8-foot table, and proceeds benefit the charities the club supports.

Hunter safety bow class

BETHEL — There will be a hunter safety bow class at Telstar High School library from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, and 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 25.

Interested individuals must attend both classes to receive their certificate, and pass a final exam.

This archery education course will provide students with knowledge regarding equipment, proper hunting methods, responsibilities and general safety. Most classes will have some outdoor exercises. 

Class costs $10 and is limited to 25 students.
