I live in Otisfield. I found the budget for Oxford Hills schools online. I was shocked at what I found.

The salaries for administration are, of course, a fraction of the total budget. They were listed as being: Superintendent, $121,000; assistant superintendent, $105,000; secretary, $63,000; principal (high school), $105,000; assistant principal, $176,000 (typo?); secretary, $98,000; principal (Rowe School), $94,000; assistant principal, $84,000.

I looked the budget up because my taxes went up … again.

The average income in this area is probably around $40,000. The salaries for the school administration are outrageous.

My final point is that the proficiency rate for graduating students is 40 percent or less in math and English studies; which means that more than 60 percent of Oxford Hills graduates are non-proficient in English and math studies.

The total budget? About $39 million. That is outrageous.
