Piper Norcross led the Red Eddies (2-0) with a pair of goals, while Olivia Jensen also scored to complete the scoring.

Makenna Brodeur recorded a hat trick for the Eagles (1-1) in a solid effort.

Tara Depot made 12 saves for Edward Little, while Sarah Venderker turned aside six shots for Messalosnkee.

DIXFIELD — Senior striker Brittany Greig scored three goals, including the game-winner in double overtime, as Dirigo notched a 4-3 victory over Boothbay in girls’ soccer action Tuesday afternoon.

Striker Hannah Cola netted the first goal of the game for the Seahawks (1-1).

The Cougars (1-1) were trailing 3-1 with five minutes remaining in regulation when Greig closed the gap to within one. Emilie Noyes sent the game into overtime on a tally with 1:30 remaining.

Goalie Summer Chamberlin made eight saves for Boothbay, while goalie Mackenzie Ladd turned back 10 to earn the win in net for Dirigo.

Rangeley 2, Valley 0

RANGELEY — Junior stopper Natasha Haley and sophomore midfielder Kylie Collins scored goals, one in each half, to lift Rangeley to a 2-0 victory over Valley in girls’ soccer action Tuesday afternoon.

Valley goalie Samantha Nest had her work cut out for her as she made 14 saves to keep the Cavaliers (0-1) in the game.

Goalie Amber Morrill made five saves to earn the win for Rangeley.

Lewiston 4, Skowhegan 1

LEWISTON — Freshman Maddy Foster collected a goal and an assist as Lewiston cruised to a 4-1 victory over Skowhegan in girls’ soccer action Tuesday afternoon.

Kajha Gagnon got the scoring started for the Blue Devils (2-0) on a free kick at the 31:43 mark of the first half. Lewiston led 2-0 at the half.

Annie Cook netted an unassisted tally at the 13:55 into the second half for the Indians (0-2).

Goalie Sydney Reny made 12 saves for Skoweghan, while goalie Kallie May defended three to earn the win in net for Lewiston.

Hampden 4, Oxford Hills 0

PARIS — Emily Colter led a group of four players who recorded goals Tuesday as Hampden Academy hustled to a 3-0 win over Oxford Hills.

Aubra Linn, Marissa Gilpin and Christine Woodside also tallied for Hampden to complete the scoring.

Emily Dysart made 10 saves for Hampden (1-1) to notch the shutout. Emily Blackshaw deflected 10 shots between the posts for the Vikings (0-2).

POLAND — Tiernan Conner netted a pair of goals Tuesday to lead Kennebunk to a 5-0 romp over Poland in an early-season girls’ soccer tilt.

Hallie Schwartzman, Caitlin Wolff and Lydia Howarth also tallied for the Rams (2-0).

Adia Grogan needed only four saves to record the shutout, while Madeline Simard turned aside 21 shots for the Knights (1-1).

Erskine 5, Leavitt 1

TURNER — Peyton Haughton led a group of five players to record goals Tuesday as Erskine hustled to a convincing 5-1 girls’ soccer win over Leavitt.

Lauren Wood, Kaylee Porter, Kayla Hubbard and Jenna Lilley also tallied for the Eagles (2-0) to complete the scoring. Lindsey Desmaris tallied the Hornets’ (1-1) lone goal on a long ball that sailed over the Erskine keeper’s head.

Buckfield 11, Greater Portland Christian 2

BUCKFIELD — Julia Dow registered a hat trick Tuesday afternoon to lead Buckfield to an 11-2 romp over Greater Portland Christian in girls’ soccer action.

Abby Shields, Kali Litchfield and Hannah Shields all netted two goals each for the Bucks (1-0). Cassidy Hart and Deja Bennett also scored. Grace Mears and Courtney Spaulding each netted single goals for GPC.

Kaylee Harvey made two saves between the posts for Buckfield.

WELLS — Laurel Thomas scored a pair of goals as Gray-New Gloucester secured a 4-1 victory over Wells in girls’ soccer action Tuesday afternoon.

The Patriots (2-0) posted two goals in each half. Jaley Martin contributed a goal and an assist for Gray-New Gloucester.

Elana Fortin notched the lone Warrior (0-2) goal in the first half.

Grayson Petty also tallied for the Eagles (1-0-1) on a penalty kick. Noah Lind converted a pass from Noah Fullerton to give the Hornets (1-1) a goal in the first frame.

Kevin Turner (7) and Nick Howard (4) combined forces to record 11 saves for Erskine, while Lucas Perry turned aside 16 shots for Leavitt.

BETHEL — Kellen True fired a shot into the net during the second half Tuesday to give Telstar a 2-1 victory over Mt. Abram in a boys’ soccer matchup.

The Patriots (2-0) produced both goals in the second half. Bryce Hayman tallied the other marker.

Junior forward Liam Bell was dangerous on the counter-attack for the Warriors (0-1-1).

AUBURN — Junior forward Hannah Trottier-Braun scored five goals as St. Dom’s notched a lopsided 12-1 victory over Old Orchard Beach in field hockey action Tuesday afternoon.

Sophomore forward Kylie Leavitt contributed three goals and six assists for the Saints (2-0).

Forward MiKayla Grier netted the solitary goal for the Seagulls (0-2).

READFIELD — Tamra Benson registered a hat trick Tuesday to lead Leavitt to a 9-0 rout over Maranacook in a KVAC field hockey matchup.

Kaitlyn Leclerc chipped in for the Hornets (3-0) with two goals, while single tallies from Allie Belaire, Makenzie Treadwell, Samantha Martineau and Kayla Leclerc completed the scoring.

Mallory Casey and Hailey DeMascio split time in net for Leavitt, yet neither was required to make a single save. Carolina Bachelor deflected 23 shots between the posts for Maranacook (0-3).

PARIS — Oxford Hills scored a goal in each half Tuesday and came away with a 2-0 field hockey victory over Mt. Ararat.

Katie Watkins and Haley Wakefield each tallied for the Vikings (3-0), while Ciara Hamlin contributed an assist.

Anna Huff needed only two saves to notch the shutout, while Haley Finizzle turned aside 16 shots for Mt. Ararat (1-2).

College field hockey

Bates 4, Worcester St. 0

LEWISTON — Bates College field hockey team opened the 2016-17 season with a 4-0 victory over Worcester State University.

The Bobcats (1-0) outshot the Lancers (0-2) by a 32-1 margin in the home opener.

Bates took the early lead on the first shot attempt and first penalty corner of the season. Sophomore Adah Lindquist fed the ball to sophomore Jessie Moriarty, who slapped it home from the top of the circle into the left side of the cage.

Goalie Kathryn Salemme made 10 saves for Worcester, while sophomore Adelae Durand earned the win in net for Bates without a save in first-half action, and first-year Alyssa Souza played a shutout second half with no saves.
