ANSWER: According to the column that was published on Thursday, Sept. 1, “Shawls should be 58 to 60 inches long and 23 to 24 inches wide when completed. We want the patient to be able to wrap it around their shoulders comfortably so they do not have to hold onto it to keep it on. The preference is for a rectangular pattern, however, we accept triangular shawls as long as they are 58 inches long at the longest edge. We do have patterns available for those who are interested. We would like to have shawls knitted especially for women and others knitted especially for men.”
Please contact Kim Chesley in the Volunteer Office, at (207) 795-9489, or e-mail her at kim.chesley@ahch.org for more information on the shawls and possibly obtaining a pattern.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: As many people write all the time to say how you have helped them, now I am asking. I have called several places to donate many boxes and bags of yarn and crochet threads. I have yarn for afghans, baby clothes and many crocheted crafts.
If anyone has an organization that takes these supplies, then please give me a call at (207) 353-2842. Thank you. — Debbie, No Town.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: On Sept. 17, the Lisbon United Methodist Church in Lisbon Falls will be sponsoring Neighbors Helping Neighbors, a 5K Run/Walk, that will benefit the Lisbon Area Christian Outreach Food Bank. The food bank serves many families in the towns of Lisbon, Durham and Bowdoin. We would like to be able to present all participants with goodie bags as a thank you for participating in the 5K. We are seeking donations of key chains, pens, magnets, pencils, water bottles and any other items from businesses that we could use to fill the bags. This would be a wonderful way for businesses to show their support of LACO, as well as promoting their own company. Items can be dropped off at the church, or call Trudy at (207) 353-8579, or email gduval3@roadrunner.com to arrange for pick-up of the items, or if you have any questions about the 5K. Thank you. — Trudy, Lisbon.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: In response to Pat looking for craft fair vendor opportunities, there are two large Facebook groups dedicated to Maine Craft Fairs — both are quite busy this time of year seeking various vendors.
