LIVERMORE FALLS — The 30th annual Bowman Field Flying Club’s Fly-in this Saturday and Sunday is shaping up to be the club’s biggest and best yet.

Pilots will be flying in from as far away as New York and New Jersey to be part of the festivities. This year’s lineup will feature displays from Black Bear Aviation, Supercubs North T-3 tailwheel, PK floats, Airlink Flight School, and a Tom Ford fabric repair seminar, the Air National Guard’s Black Hawk helicopter, the Maine Forest Service and its Huey helicopter, and a Federal Aviation Administration safety seminar.

There will be games for children and a candy drop both days. A huge hangar yard sale will take place, and Antique Power Associates will return.

There will be a 50/50 raffle, door prizes, T-shirts and hats. A full-service food shack will serve breakfast, lunch and supper.

A spaghetti supper will be served Saturday from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. The American Ride band will play starting at 7 p.m.

Throughout the weekend, airplane and helicopter rides will provide people with unique scenic views of Livermore Falls and the surrounding countryside. Admission to the fly-in is free.

“We’ve lost a couple of club members in the past year,” said secretary Kendra Lyman-Hood. “We’re doing some memorials for them, and some other things we wouldn’t typically be doing.”

Bowman Field, on 40 River Road in Livermore Falls, was established around 1960 by Winn Bowen and Royston “Stubby” Lyman. The field has been maintained by the Bowman Field Flying Club, which has 35 members.

Bowman Field is a grass strip that is well-mowed and maintained. It has 2,101 feet of usable, well-maintained runway. It isn’t plowed in the winter but is rolled after most every storm and kept in top condition.
