1941 – 2016

NORWAY — Sandra Mason, 75, of Bethel passed away Wednesday, Aug. 3, at the Norway Center for Health and Rehabilitation, surrounded by her family.

She was born in Greenwood on May 11, 1941, the daughter of Charles B. and Georgia M. (Thurlow) Mason. She attended Greenwood schools and Gould Academy.

A homemaker most of her life, Sandra had also worked at Chapel Valley Nursing Home in West Paris and ECKO Wood Products in Locke Mills. She also owned and operated Sandy’s Kitchen, well-known restaurants in Locke Mills, West Bethel and Newry.

She was a member of the Locke Mills Union Church. She also enjoyed birds, flowers, hunting, fishing and camping, family gatherings and time spent with friends. She never held back on her thoughts and opinions.

She leaves behind three sons, Steven Swan and his companion, Betsey, of Oxford, Timothy Swan and his wife, Shirley, of Oxford, and Dennis Swan and his companion, Sharon, of Sanford; two daughters, Julie Whitman and her husband, James, of Greenwood, and Shellie Swan of West Paris; three brothers, Stuart Mason and his wife, Gail, of South Paris, William Mason of South Paris, and Wayne Mason and his wife, JoEllen, of Oklahoma; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Sandra was predeceased by her parents; her son, Jerry Swan; brothers, Charles B. Mason Jr., Robert Mason and Edmund Mason; and three sisters, Bessie Carll, Josephine Brown and Orene Bahre.
