DEAR SUN SPOTS: Does anyone know where I can get a DVD of “Tin Cup?” Thank you. — Evelyn, Lewiston.

ANSWER: Movie inventories at local stores that sell DVDs are constantly changing, but your best bet for finding the 1996 romance flick “Tin Cup” locally is either at Walmart, where they have bins of older movies on DVD for relatively low prices, or at Bull Moose, located at the Lewiston Mall, 20 East Ave., Lewiston. Bull Moose specializes in locating harder-to-find titles, and if they don’t have it, they’ll likely be able to help you find it. You can call them at (207) 784-6463.

Another option, depending on your computer skills, is to purchase the DVD online from a website like Amazon. And if you’re more or less just interested in watching the movie, rather than owning a physical copy of the DVD, then consider paying to stream it instantly online from a movie service. A web search will locate several services, but experts warn about the risks of using a free service. Pay the few bucks to stream through a legitimate service. Also, although Time Warner Cable Movies On Demand change from time to time, as Sun Spots is writing this column “Tin Cup” is available through that service if you use time Warner Cable. And it’s always worth checking your local library. Some have substantial movie offerings.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: My daughter Shalimar Poulin is the art teacher at Wiscasset High School. She would like to add stained-glass art classes to what she now teaches her students when the new fall semester starts. She would like to hear from anyone who may have done stained glass in the past and no longer does that type of art who is willing to donate tools and glass they may still have. You may contact me, Anita Poulin at 207-782-5118. Thank you in advance for helping a local teacher enhance her teaching program. — Anita, No Town.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Board of Trustees of the A.B. Ricker Library in Poland is actively seeking two citizens to serve on the Board of Trustees of the library.

We are proud of our wonderful library, which was endowed by Jane Jeffrey Ricker to honor her husband, Alvan Bolster Ricker, of the iconic Poland Spring family. Mrs. Ricker, a Red Cross nurse in World War I, was one of only six women to receive the Distinguished Service Cross in that war. After her death, she was honored by “Who’s Who in America” for making the most substantial gift for a library in relation to annual income.

For more information see our website at www.rickerlibrary.com. You can also email our director, Joanne Messer, at jmesser@rickerlibrary.org. You can also apply at the Town Office. Thank you for your help. — Claire Walker, secretary, Board of Trustees, Ricker Memorial Library.
