Do black lives really matter to whoever is responsible for placing news stories in the Sun Journal?
I was satisfied with the front page on Tuesday, July 26, until I turned to Page 2 and found that a gunman (or men) killed two and wounded 17 at a teen outing in Florida. I had to turn back to the front page to reread the story of a knife attack that killed 19 in Japan.
My thought was which did the editor feel was more important — the story of continued violence in this county, or the story of the knife attack in Japan (truly tragic, but far away from our shores and, speaking for myself, the national interest).
As a conservative independent, I am starting to understand why the black community considers itself to be treated as second-class citizens by the media; it seems that is the case with the print media as well.
