KITTERY, Maine (AP) — A Coast Guard cutter seized more than $50 million worth of cocaine during a two-month deployment to the Pacific Ocean.

The Reliant and its 83-member crew returned home Friday to Portsmouth Naval Shipyard.

During the deployment, the Reliance supported international efforts to detect, prevent and disrupt illicit maritime activities including narcotics trafficking. Official say the ship conducted three successful drug interdictions, seizing nearly 2,500 kilograms of cocaine.

The ship partnered with an aviation detachment from Jacksonville, Florida, adding a helicopter to help increase the ship’s patrol range.

The 59-day deployment covered 7,500 nautical miles. The ship transited the Panama Canal and made ports of call of Panama and Costa Rica.
