LIVERMORE FALLS — A truck reported stolen from a Church Street residence early Wednesday morning was found partially submerged in the waters of Long Pond in Livermore.
A 2008 GMC 1500 was taken from the residence sometime between 9 p.m. Tuesday and 6 a.m. Wednesday, said Livermore Falls Police Chief Ernest Steward Jr. The owner left the keys in the truck.
The theft was reported to police at 6:43 a.m. Wednesday. At 7:08 a.m., the department received a call from the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office. People were reporting that a vehicle could be seen in the water near the boat ramp, he said.
The description matched the missing truck.
The vehicle was apparently driven into the lake, but not deep enough to sink. It was found in 10 to 15 feet of water. The ignition key was left in the on position, Steward said.
Winn Towing of Turner pulled the vehicle out of the lake. The amount of damage to the vehicle was not available. Police were investigating the incident.
