FARMINGTON — The vote yes and vote no signs are visible around the towns in Regional School Unit 9, on lawns and the sides of roadways, as school directors send a second school budget to voters.
The yes or no validation referendum will be held Thursday, July 28, in each of the 10 towns that make up RSU 9. Polling hours vary in the towns. Voters set the 2016-17 budget to go to referendum on July 14 at a district-wide budget meeting.
The proposed $32.7 million spending plan is $224,071 less than the proposal that failed at the polls in June. The new total reflects a $705,202 increase, or 2.2 percent, over last year’s $32 million budget. Overall assessments will decrease in eight of the 10 towns, with New Vineyard and Starks seeing increases.
