PORTLAND (AP) — A Maine man who pleaded guilty to conspiring to distribute heroin and fentanyl in Sanford is headed to prison.
Jesse Roy was sentenced Monday in Portland to nearly 12 years in federal prison. He pleaded guilty in December to charges of conspiracy to distribute heroin and fentanyl and possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking.
The 37-year-old Sanford man was arrested in October 2014 after his roommates told police that he had threatened them with a gun.
Court records say a search of his home found 94 grams of heroin, a pistol and $24,500 in cash.
Prosecutors say Roy’s sentence was increased partly because he attempted to obstruct the investigation by sending letters to a co-defendant between May and July 2015 asking him to lie about the charges.
