FARMINGTON — Selectmen recently accepted a bid from Jordan Excavation of Kingfield to raze a building on Church Street and build a parking lot.

The company bid $149,245 for the work, including adjacent Cony Street reconstruction and installation of concrete curbing, plus $9,123 for drainage improvements at 219 High St.

Cony Street will be reshaped and crowned to drain surface water toward the cemetery, Town Manager Richard Davis said, to alleviate erosion around a drainage pipe at 219 High St.

Other bids were from E.L. Vining & Son for $166,730 and Bruce A. Manzer for $208,727.

The building may be down before the end of the month, Davis said.

In June 2015, voters approved buying the Church Street property for $79,000 and making a parking lot that is easily accessible from Broadway and Main streets. The building was cleared and some fixtures sold. There were no asbestos issues, Davis said.
