THE FORKS — Maine State Police say the death of Kimberly Hill, 33, of Wiscasset was an accident.

Stephen McCausland, the spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety, said state police investigated Hill’s death and consulted with the Maine Attorney General’s Office and the Medical Examiner’s Office in Augusta.

“We’ve been able to piece together what happened, and what we have is a tragic accident that resulted from her jumping from the cab of her boyfriend’s truck,” McCausland said.

Hill was found along Route 201 in The Forks on the morning of March 20. Her boyfriend, Tyler Poland, 29, of Greene, called police just after 2 a.m. and said he had put her into the cab of his pickup as he drove south.

Hill was dead when first responders met up with the truck.

McCausland said that Hill died of injuries “sustained by either being struck by a moving vehicle, and/or striking a guardrail.”

He said alcohol likely played a factor in Hill’s death, but that there were “no indications of alcohol being a factor in Poland’s actions.”

No charges will be filed against Poland, McCausland said.
