ANSWER: Thank you to your husband, and to all other veterans, for his/their service, bravery and loyalty. There will never be enough words, or the right words, to express how deeply their selfless dedication is appreciated. They are true heroes.
There are many people who feel as you do, Kate, and Sun Spots would be remiss if she failed to acknowledge that having access to good legal defense may have played a role in Ali’s court outcome. His fortune or his fame, or more likely some combination of the two, may indeed have gained him that access, and in that regard, he had an advantage over the average draftee.
As for felony convictions, on his second day in office, President Carter, in a move that was celebrated by some and that angered many others, issued a blanket pardon granting amnesty to hundreds of thousands of draft dodgers. Whether that act was right or wrong in someone’s opinion, those folks no longer had to worry about prosecution or a felony conviction following them around for the rest of their lives.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: What do the stars in the horoscope mean? — Connie, Auburn.
ANSWER: Readers of the Sun Journal’s horoscopes may have noticed the recent addition of a star ranking at the end of each sign’s daily horoscope. According to the astrologer Eugenia Last’s website, “the stars represent each sign’s emotional well-being for the day. It is based on the movement of the moon. The moon takes two and a half days to move through a constellation, so you may have the same number of stars a couple of days in a row. When you have a five star day, you can take on whatever comes your way, but when you have a one star day, you may want to avoid adversity and rethink your strategy before making a move.”
