Lewiston taxpayers need to keep watch over City Council meetings. People will learn very quickly how bad residents are getting hosed.
A couple weeks ago, the Council voted on the school budget — four yes votes, three no votes. One councilor said it was a disservice to the taxpayers to vote yes. The other four ignored their constituents and voted yes.
A few years ago, the citizens of Lewiston killed Cassella’s efforts to take over the landfill. Well, guess what? They are in whether residents like it or not. There goes the future of the landfill. I heard last year that thousands of yards from KTI went into the Lewiston landfill, just about filling a cell. Citizens questioned the heavy truck traffic. They were not given the right answer.
Lastly, every time Charles Soule speaks, he is very disrespected by the mayor and some of the staff. He asked for some information and Phil Nadeau speed-read through it.
That is what taxpayers of Lewiston have for municipal leadership. Very sad.
Best of luck to retiring Police Chief Michael Bussiere.
