WALES — Police shut down a section of Route 126 late Thursday afternoon after a car rolled off the road, leaving the driver trapped in the wreckage.

Crews from Wales, Monmouth and Sabattus responded, cutting the roof off the car to free the driver, whose identity was not immediately available. 

The crash occurred in front of Ron’s Transmission. Androscoggin County Sheriff’s deputies closed a section of the road as the rescue was underway. The road was reopened an hour later.

Sheriff’s officials were investigating the cause of the crash. The extent of injuries was not known, although they were not believed to be life-threatening.
