WOODSTOCK — Town Manager Vern Maxfield told selectmen Tuesday evening that he is still waiting for the deed so the town can begin using the former state highway garage on Route 232.
Maxfield said he has contacted real estate agent Chris Paszyk, who confirmed the deed will be available once he hears from Gov. Paul LePage’s office, which is responsible for producing the deed.
Voters in March approved buying the garage for $65,000, with the state’s condition that it be used for transportation purposes. The 40- by 80-foot building will be used as a base for PACE Ambulance and Rescue Services, and for storage of additional town vehicles, Maxfield said.
The board also agreed last month to allow the Maine State Police to set up an office in the building.
In other business, Maxfield said Telstar Regional High School senior Cameron Rothwell decided to install benches in the gazebo at the town common on South Main Street as part of his Eagle Scout project.
“He put a small bench on one side of the gazebo, and a larger one in the corner of the other side,” Maxfield said. He showed a picture of the project.
“That is awesome,” Chairman Ron Deegan said. “It’s really nice that he did that for the town.”
