LEWISTON — Maine businessman and author Derek Volk will read from and discuss his memoir “Chasing the Rabbit: A Dad’s Life Raising a Son on the Spectrum” from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday, June 9, at the SeniorsPlus Education Center, 8 Falcon Road. 

The event is part of the center’s Maine Author Series. A question-and-answer session will follow.

Co-written with his then-24-year-old son Dylan, who has Asperger syndrome, the book highlights the Volk family’s significant challenges and heartfelt triumphs, as well as the various coping strategies they have employed throughout Dylan’s life.
