LEWISTON — The Lewiston and Auburn public libraries will offer free beginner and intermediate classes in Swahili, also known as Kiswahili, beginning Tuesday, June 14.

Kiswahili 101 will provide teen and adult students with a foundation in listening, speaking, reading and writing the basic grammatical structures and vocabulary of Kiswahili.

The beginner class will take place on Tuesdays from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Lewiston Public Library.

Students with experience in Swahili should join the ongoing intermediate class on Mondays from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Auburn Public Library.

The classes are free and open to the public, but advance registration is required.
