First Auburn Seniors to meet

AUBURN — The First Auburn Senior Citizens will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 1, after the 10 a.m. board meeting.

Members should bring a bag lunch. Bingo will be played.

There were 44 members present at the last meeting. A memorial service was observed and the seniors celebrated the 100th birthday of longtime member Lucia Cowles with cake. 

Attendance winners were Mary Ray and Nancy Hutchinson; Pot of gold, Paul Mikkelsen, Jeannine Cyr and Suzanne Blanchard; 50/50, Cyr, Belinda Gerry and Charlotte Dyer.

Nar-Anon group to begin

AUBURN — Central Maine Nar-Anon will meet at 6 p.m. Thursdays, beginning June 2, at St. Philips Church, 2365 Turner Road.

The goal of the group is to help family, friends and co-workers of addicts. The only membership requirement is that there be a relative or friend with an addiction problem.

World Refugee Day June 3

LEWISTON — The Lewiston-Auburn Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Lewiston-Auburn World Refugee Day celebration from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 3, at Simard-Payne Memorial Park.

World Refugee Day is a global event and a time to celebrate the rich cultures in Lewiston and Auburn. 

LACO benefit car show

DURHAM — The Yankee Cruisers Car Club will host a car show to benefit the Lisbon Area Christian Outreach Food and Clothing Pantry on Saturday, June 4, at the Shiloh Chapel on Beulah Lane. 

There will be 27 classes during the show. Registration runs from 8 to 11 a.m., voting ends at 12:30 p.m. and the awards will be given at 2 p.m.

The show will be held rain or shine.

Grand opening of Museum Carriage House

MONMOUTH — The Monmouth Museum Carriage House will celebrate the grand opening of the F. Lloyd McCabe Loft from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 4.

Scholarship golf tournament Sept. 25

AUBURN — The fifth annual Fish Bones Hospitality Scholarship Golf Tournament is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 25, at Martindale Country Club.

Included is a food court hosted by area restaurants, a tomato putting contest, longest marshmallow drive, “hole in one” opportunities and raffle prizes.

The fund has given over $20,000 in scholarships to local individuals pursuing careers in the hospitality industry. Funds are available for graduating high school seniors as well as adults in the midst of career changes.
