DIXFIELD — A public hearing is set for 6 p.m. Thursday, June 2, on town meeting warrant articles.

The hearing will be held in the basement of Ludden Memorial Library and moderated by Richard Pickett.

Residents voted on the first nine articles at the April 28 town meeting. The remaining 18 will be decided by secret ballot at the polls from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 14.

The articles include election of officers, a wind development ordinance and municipal budget amounts.

At Monday night’s selectmen meeting, the board approved of resident Neri Cormier building and painting soldier silhouettes for veterans’ graves in Greenwood Cemetery, Town Manager Carlo Puiia said.

The silhouettes would be placed on the back section of cemetery on Pine Street and be similar ones at the Weld Street entrance.

“The silhouette is of a soldier down on one knee, with a rifle in their hands,” Puiia said. “Neri said he would provide the town with the silhouette and paint them. The town would provide the pipes that would hold them in place.”
