AUGUSTA —

, 90, a resident of Lisbon Falls passed away Friday, May 20, at Maine Veterans’ Home in Augusta.

He was born in Turner, Nov. 25, 1925, the son of Frank G. and Linna (Richmond) Davis. Blaine was educated in schools in Turner and Waterville and attended Thomas College and the University of Maine.

At age 17, Blaine enlisted in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. He participated in the four Pacific Island battles that the 4th Marine Division were tasked to secure. He worked for the federal government as a civilian employee at both Loring and Dow Air Force bases and retired as budget officer at the Brunswick Naval Air Station in 1986.

Blaine married Winona V. Ramsdell on Jan. 24, 1946, in Waterville. He was an avid golfer and served several years as president of the Apple Valley Golf Association. He also served as handicap chairman for many years. He served at various times as president and secretary of the Turner Centerville Cemetery Association, and president, vice president and treasurer of Chapter 21 of the Fourth Marine Division Association of World War II.

He is survived by his brother-in-law, Roger Gammon of East Sumner; and many wonderful nieces and nephews who provided care, meals and friendship. He will be sadly missed but lovingly remembered.

He was predeceased by his wife, Winona in 2008, after 62-plus wonderful years of marriage. A big part of him died that same day and he has longed to be with her ever since. He was also predeceased by five sisters, Florence Peach (1982), Carmen Elliott (2007), Freda Phinney (2011), Phyllis Heikkinen (1995) and his twin, Beryl Gammon (2004); and three brothers, Clifton Richmond (2003), Francis Davis (1992) and Byron Davis (1938).

The family of Blaine wishes to thank all of the nurses, CNAs and staff at the Maine Veterans’ Home, Augusta, and Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice for the wonderful care they gave him. Messages of condolence may be sent to: www.finleyfuneralhome.com.
