AUBURN — The annual medical assistant pinning ceremony was held May 10 at Central Maine Community College for 2016 graduates of the program.

Dr. Carmin Iadonisi, instructor and adviser, delivered the formal address to the graduates. Other participants included Anne Russo-Ladd, externship coordinator; Susan Blake, adjunct instructor; and Lisa Boulley, graduate and president of the Medical Assistant Club.

Medical assistant graduates honored at the ceremony were Jennifer Blankenblecker, Lisa Boulley, Lori Bryant, Mariana Cruz, Kristina Delano, Courtney Fenderson, Cassandra Griffin, Allanah Harkins, Mariah Larsen, Michelle Merrill-Knoulton, Jacob Pelletier, Noah Pelletier, Brianna Santos, Deanna Sheperson, Tracy Stevenson and Nancy Theriault.

The medical assisting associate degree program prepares graduates for entry-level employment in settings in which medical secretarial and/or basic clinical and laboratory training are required. The program curriculum includes coursework in anatomy and physiology, communications, medical administrative procedures, medical law and ethics, medical transcription and medical assistant clinical procedures. A 240-hour externship is required in the last semester.
