PORTLAND (AP) — Police in Portland are looking for potential witnesses who may have seen an accident where a moped struck and severely injured a 52-year-old man in the Maine city.

David Burnham was struck by a 2007 Honda moped driven by 36-year-old Kelly McGovern around 8:35 p.m. Tuesday as he crossed Brighton Avenue at its intersection with St. John Street.

Burnham sustained serious injuries and was transported to Maine Medical Center for treatment. McGovern was uninjured in the crash.

No word on whether any charges were filed against McGovern. An investigation is ongoing.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the accident to call the Portland Police Traffic Division at 874-8532.
