MONDAY, May 16

LEWISTON — Youth Art Showcase, 3-6 p.m., Callahan Hall, Lewiston Public Library, display of artwork by Tree Street Youth who participated in a class funded by the Maine Arts Commission.

LEWISTON — Finance Committee regular meeting, 5:30 p.m. in the Administrator’s Conference Room on the bottom floor Lewiston City Hall. Topics include purchasing parking gate systems, road repairs, weed control services and a water/sewer line replacement.

AUBURN— City Council workshop and regular meeting in the City Council Chamber on the second floor of Auburn Hall. The workshop meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. and the agenda includes a review of the five-year capital improvement plan and the fiscal year 2016-17 budget. The regular meeting begins at 7 p.m. and topics include adopting a form-based code, adopting a school budget and not authorizing city staff to  perform support activities for the Joint Charter Commission.

LEWISTON — School Committee, 6:45 p.m., Dingley Building, committee members will plan what to do about the next school budget referendum in June after voters defeated the May 10 budget.

LEWISTON — “The Kids as Curators Exhibit” opening reception, 6-7:30 p.m.,  Museum L-A. The Kids as Curators is a collaborative effort between Museum L-A and the 8th-grade team teachers at Auburn Middle School, over 80 students are participating.

TUESDAY, May 17

AUBURN — Emergency Preparedness for Seniors, 2-3:30 p.m., Auburn Public Library, Joanne Potvin will introduce natural and man-made hazards for which seniors are vulnerable and will provide information to stay safe. The program is provided by the library and Lewiston-Auburn Senior College.

LEWISTON — City Council workshop and regular meeting in the City Council Chamber on the bottom floor of Lewiston City Hall. The workshop meeting is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. and topics include disorderly properties and assessed value. The regular meeting follows at 7 p.m. and topics include the 2017 Capital Improvements project list and an option agreement with Androscoggin Bank for property at 16 Lincoln St.

AUBURN — Auburn School Committee, regular meeting, 7 p.m., Auburn Hall.

THURSDAY, May 19

LEWISTON — Great Falls Forum, noon-1 p.m., Lewiston Public Library’s Callahan Hall, a talk by Chip Morrison on the L/A Joint Charter Commission, report on the commission’s work to-date, their plans for the next several months followed by a question-and-answer session. This is a free, public event.

AUBURN — Planners and city staff will give a presentation and review of the New Auburn Riverway and Greenway at 6 p.m. in the former St. Louis Church, 32 Dunn St. in new Auburn. The update will include information on phasing, project funding and other New Auburn Projects.

AUBURN — Author talk by Ron Chase, 6:30 p.m., Auburn Public Libary, Chase wrote “The Great Mars Hill Bank Robbery” about how a highly decorated Vietnam War hero, Bernard Patterson, robbed a bank in Mars Hill in 1971. Program free.

FRIDAY, May 20

LEWISTON— The Lewiston Historic Preservation Review board will honor developer Andrew Knight for his work on the Agora Grand Event Center at 220 Bates St. and the attached Inn at Agora, formerly the St. Patrick’s Church and rectory, at 3 p.m. at the event center. Each May, the board honors historic redevelopments from the prior year.
