Gov. Paul LePage was invited to speak at a UMF celebratory event, only to be faced with derogatory signs from UMF students Allyson Hammond and Nicholas Bray. I found that to be extremely distasteful and disrespectful to the incumbent governor.
Who wouldn’t have been angered under those circumstances?
Also, the headline points to yet another faux pas against Gov. LePage when it should have stressed the lack of control by UMF administrators in preventing the incident from happening in the first place.
In all fairness, I do understand that administrators cannot always control inappropriate student behavior. However, what would have been wrong in asking those students to either get rid of their signs or have them escorted out of the area?
