HIRAM — An accidental fire destroyed a small barn and ell, and damaged a home at 72 Sebago Road early Monday morning, Second Assistant Fire Chief Eric Durgin said.

The fire was reported around midnight when the owner, who was not identified, was at work, Durgin said. A neighbor alerted the owner and she returned to the house, which is about half a mile from the fire station.

A dog and two cats were unaccounted for.

The state Fire Marshal’s Office concluded the cause was accidental.

Responding departments included Hiram, Brownfield, Denmark, Baldwin, Sebago, Bridgton and Cornish. The crews were at the scene for nearly seven hours, according to Durgin.
