FARMINGTON — A celebration to dedicate the Education Center at the University of Maine at Farmington will bring Gov. Paul LePage, University of Maine System Chancellor James H. Page and others to the Farmington campus Tuesday.

The center will be named the Theodora J. Kalikow Education Center in honor of UMF’s former president.

The celebration will take place at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, at High and South streets. Tours will begin at 3 p.m.

UMF President Kathryn A. Foster has invited the campus community, UMF alumni and the public to attend.

On Tuesday,  South Street will be closed for the entire day to accommodate setup for the ceremony.  High Street from Middle Street to Maple Avenue will be closed from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Southbound traffic will not be permitted on High Street during the event times listed, but Farmington residents residing on side streets between Maple Avenue and Lake Avenue will be permitted through the barricaded areas from the Maple Avenue side.

Drivers are being asked to advise the UMF officers conducting the traffic detail if this is the case and travel will be permitted to your residence, according to Brock Caton, director of the UMF Department of Public Safety/chief of police.
