1941 – 2016

TURNER — Mary H. Emerson, 74, of Upper Street in Turner, died early Sunday morning, April 17, at her home.

She was born in Masardis on June 29, 1941, a daughter of Cyrus Lee and Exina Mary (Thibeault) Hafford. She was educated in schools in northern Maine. She moved to Turner in 1957 and worked for Dort and Julie Bigg, until she married Fred Emerson Sr. in 1959.

Mary spent all of her employment years in the restaurant and food service industry, working as a waitress and spent many of those years at the Chick-A-Dee Restaurant in Turner, the former Bert’s Restaurant in Lewiston and at Pizza Hut, also in Lewiston, until her retirement.

She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and just simply watching, from her favorite chair, the many different birds in her yard and in the bird feeder. But her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family, children and grandchildren. She was a loving, devoted and hardworking mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed.

She leaves behind her three children, her son, Fred H. Emerson Jr. of Bangor; her two daughters, Julie Anne Emerson of Turner, and Tina M. Boucher and husband, Gary, also of Turner; four grandchildren, Monica Emerson, Chase Emerson, Paige Emerson and Marcie Shumway and husband, Justin; several great-grandchildren; two sisters, Judy Anderson and husband, Dave, of New Sweden, and Gloria Abbott of Haverhill, Mass.; four brothers, Jeff Hafford and wife, Amber, Mike Hafford and wife, Barbara, both of Haverhill, Mass., Richard Hafford and wife, Linda, and Roger Hafford, both of New Hampshire; many nieces and nephews and a very special friend for over 50 years, Laura Heinrich of Lynn, Mass.

She was predeceased by her parents; two sisters; and 10 brothers.

You are invited to share your thoughts, condolences and fond memories with Mary’s family by visiting their online guestbook at www.thefortingroupauburn.com.
