LIVERMORE — The Board of Selectpersons Monday night hired Bruce Webster of Livermore Falls as a part-time maintenance/highway worker.

The town has been without a maintenance person since Dan Boothby resigned on Dec. 18, 2015.

Webster will start at $12 per hour and will be responsible for general maintenance at all town facilities.

He does not have a commercial driver’s license.

Selectperson Megan Dion said Webster would need to take a flagger safety class. 

Highway Foreman Gerald Whitney said that class is available online.

Webster asked if his hours would be set in stone. He is an umpire for area girls’ softball games and is usually busy two to three afternoons a week.

Dion said some tasks, such as power-washing the front of the Town Office/fire station complex, could be set by Webster’s time. 

He was told the highway foreman would call when Webster was needed for a road project.
