1939 – 2016
AUBURN — Marie Jeannine Alexander, known to all as simply Jeannine, 77, formerly of Royal Oaks Condos of 15 years, and more recently the Odd Fellows’ and Rebekahs’ Home in Auburn, died Friday, April 8, at Marshwood Center in Lewiston.
Born in Frenchville on Feb. 26, 1939, she was the daughter of O’Neil and Annette Morneault Deschaines. Educated locally, she was a graduate of Lewiston High School, Class of 1957. She served in the U.S. Air Force, and following her discharge, she lived in Washington, D.C. for over 30 years, where she worked as a denturist at a dental clinic. During her time in D.C., she married Frank R. Alexander. They moved to Maine, and Frank passed away on Jan. 9, 1994.
Jeannine loved to socialize and travel, and was proud of having visited 18 countries.
Survivors include five brothers, Louis Deschaines of Lewiston, John Deschaines of Lisbon Falls, Roger Deschaines and wife, Sherri, of Greene, Marcel Deschaines and wife, Martha, of Auburn, and Paul Deschaines and wife, Bonnie, of Lewiston; three sisters, Rose Sheehan of Wilson, N.C., Anne Nadeau and longtime companion, Robert Jalbert, of Auburn, and Rita and husband, Gerry Gipson, of Hoxie, Ark.; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by two brothers, Joel and Victor; and a sister, Claudette Bishop.
