AUGUSTA — Nominations are now being accepted for the Next Step Maine Scholarship program.
The program awards funds to Maine employees currently pursuing bachelor’s degrees, associate degrees, or certificate programs.
To be considered for a 2016 Next Step Maine scholarship, the employer must be a Next Step Maine employer and complete an employer nominator form and an employee nominee form. Companies interested in becoming Next Step Maine employers must complete the application process and nomination process by April 22.
The deadline for nominations is Friday, April 22. Scholarships will be presented in May. To submit a nomination, Maine companies can complete the nomination process at www.nextstepmaine.org/next-step-maine-scholarship.
The program is part of the Maine Development Foundation, a private, nonpartisan membership organization that drives sustainable, long-term economic growth for the state of Maine.
Since 2013, the program has contributed more than $71,000 in scholarships and helped 50 Maine employees attain advanced education in their field.
Recent alumni have experienced success in a variety of ways, including pay increases, promotions and career advancement. The goal is to support and recognize working adults who are going to school while managing jobs, families and other responsibilities.
