NEWRY – The Ski Museum of Maine is inviting residents to “show their memorabilia and share their memories” at the Skee Spree fundraiser Saturday, April 16, the Barker Mountain Lodge at Sunday River.
Board President Wende Gray said the show is an “important fundraiser that supports the Ski Museum’s mission to preserve and present our state’s 146-year heritage of skiing and snowboarding.”
“The Ski Museum looks forward to opening a branch in the Bethel area,” Gray said. “This event will help to raise money toward that goal. Plus, it’s an opportunity to acquire historic ski equipment, apparel, photographs, documents and other items that skiers may wish to donate.”
A silent auction from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. will offer dozens of items, including tickets and passes for sporting events.
A live auction will begin at 2 p.m., with items such as a $3,000 Big-Earth stand-up paddle board donated by the Kittery Trading Post.
Museum board members and volunteers will also set up displays of historic photographs and equipment at the Barker Mountain Lodge, Gray said.
According to its website, the Ski Museum of Maine was founded in 1995 and is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization celebrating and preserving the history and heritage of Maine skiing.
