LIVERMORE FALLS — The Livermore Falls Library Association held its annual meeting on March 21.
Reports by the secretary and treasurer were approved unanimously.
Library Director Myra Rosenbaum noted that although library usage in general declined last year, DVD circulation increased. She said the library has been losing more than $500 per year in materials that are checked out and not returned. Members present expressed concern over the amount of materials overdue and discussed ways to curb the abuse.
She also reported that the Food for Fines amnesty program held in June will become an annual event. The report was approved unanimously.
The adjusted budget for 2015-16 was discussed briefly. The budget developed for 2016-17 was approved by selectmen and the Budget Committee and will be presented to the townspeople for approval.
Officers elected for three-year terms are Pat Allen, president; Sue Chretien, vice president; Clayton Putnam, treasurer; and Lynn Knight, secretary.
Trustees re-elected are Jane Hodgkins, Lynn Knight and Paula Wade. Rosenbaum was re-appointed library director. Brianna Rush was re-appointed assistant library director.
Improvements made to the library building and property include a parking area out front with wheelchair-accessible parking, extensive repairs to the King’s Daughters room downstairs, new furniture, grab bars in all three bathrooms, and new bulletin boards.
Fundraising was discussed, with several options mentioned. A machine-pieced and machine-quilted queen-sized quilt that was donated will be auctioned and displayed in the library. Trustees will sell drawings to win the quilt on a cash calendar. Winner will be drawn in June.
