BUCKFIELD — A replacement for former Selectman Scott Violette, who resigned abruptly at the start of a meeting in January, was chosen Thursday at a special municipal election.

Former Selectman Warren Wright ran unopposed for the vacant seat. He received 53 votes. Mike Iveson got one write-in vote.

Wright also was elected assessor with 51 votes; Iveson received one vote. There were two blank ballots.

Violette had resigned, citing moral and ethical principles as a Libertarian. He said his decision was “to hold strict adherence to the Non-Aggression Principle.”
