SALEM — Mt. Abram High School will host a community Trades Night Career Fair from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, April 11. Some of Maine’s largest skilled trades employers and many of Maine’s trades education schools will be represented.
The fair will allow attendees to talk one-on-one with employers and colleges about what it takes to get a good-paying job in the skilled trade professions. Skilled trades careers are those labor jobs that require specific training, such as a plumber, welder, electrician and heavy equipment operator.
The Trades Night Career Fair is an opportunity for community members to explore new careers in the trades. Some presenters are looking to hire new employees in the trades while others offer training to learn a new trade.
Companies and colleges attending include: Cianbro, Bath Iron Works, Reed & Reed, Barclays, Backyard Farms, Eastern Maine Community College, Washington County Community College, Central Maine Community College, Kennebec County Community College, Southern Maine Community College, Maine School of Masonry, Franklin County Adult Basic Education, Beal College, Northeast Technical Institute-Bangor, Foster Tech CTE and the Wilton CareerCenter.
Refreshments will be served.
The fair is sponsored by Mt. Abram College Access Team, MELMAC grant, and Gear-Up grant.
