In late 2011, Linda Andrews lost her father. Two weeks later, she lost her husband, Jim.

The unexpected death of a loved one — especially a spouse — is one of life’s most difficult losses. During this very trying time, Andrews struggled with the reality that many people in our society have trouble responding to grief. Not only was she coping with her own loss, she began recognizing that people were often unintentionally callous and even hurtful in the way that they responded — or didn’t —  to what she was going through at the time.

As an educator and nurse, as well as someone who uses writing to process events in her life, Andrews was convinced she needed to make her own story a pathway for others, providing support to them during their time of grieving and loss.

“Please Bring Soup To Comfort Me While I Grieve” offers up Andrews’ own personal narrative, taking readers through the days and months — and what she considered to be her perfect life —after it came crashing down around her.

Andrews shares that “writing about the pain and loss helped, and became a channel to my own healing.”
