According to the department’s Facebook page, the eagles were in a territorial dispute and landed near the Augusta Arsenal.
When the city’s animal control officer and a Maine warden arrived on the scene, the two eagles’ talons were locked. The two men used blankets to take the eagles into custody. Then the two raptors were separated and released on their own recognizance.
The eagles were later spotted flying over the area. No new fights were reported.
