Mystery photo for March20, 2016

The fire escape on the Professional Building at 145 Lisbon St., Lewiston, is the backdrop for last week’s mystery photo of a slice of the art installation by Charlie Hewitt, who was born in Lewiston in 1946 and raised in a New Auburn tenement in a family of eight. “Lewiston Rattle,” the seven-piece sculpture, peeks above the sidewalk fence, rising 8 feet from a vacant lot below at 163 Lisbon St., between Ash and Pine streets. A fire in 2004 consumed several buildings housing prominent businesses in that location. Several entrants mentioned Marco’s Restaurant and the International House were among those destroyed. In a random drawing of correct entries, the winner, Joan Morin of Lewiston, also mentioned how proud she was to see the art piece finally come together and be on display, especially since Hewitt is a first cousin to her. Morin is the winner of a $10 Subway gift card.
