YARMOUTH — Twelve students recently earned certificates of completion from VIP Dental Assistant Training of Maine, a state-licensed program for those interested in becoming dental assistants.

The program’s at the dental office of Dr. Brian D. Boynton and was founded with the goal of helping fill the more than 100 vacant dental assisting jobs in Maine.

Upon completion, students have more than 88 hours of hands-on training and academic work, are CPR certified, and prepared to take the DANB Radiation Health and Safety exam and attain a Maine radiography license for dental assistants.

Local students who earned certificates of completion recently include:

Darrius Adams of Lewiston, a 2012 graduate of Lewiston High School.

Kirsten Copp of Durham, a 2015 graduate of Freeport High School.

William Maiwan of Lewiston, a 2011 graduate of Lewiston High School.

Audrey Balzer of Freeport, a 2014 graduate of Freeport High School.
