Bike race come to to L-A
Breakfast Club and Rainbow Bikes has teamed up to bring Criterium Bike Racing back to Lewiston-Auburn on Sunday, July 31.
A criterium is a spectator-friendly bike race consisting of multiple laps around a closed circuit course and will be held in downtown Lewiston. There will be six race categories and three children’s race, which will start and finish on Bates Street. Kennedy Park will act as the staging area for racers from all around New England as well as hosting area food and health related organizations and vendor tents. All profits raised from this year’s race will be donated to the Boys & Girls Club in Auburn.
The Auburn Rotary Club is looking for various race sponsorships and volunteers to help support the race throughout the day. Safe Voices to 5k Walk/RunWalk
Safe Voices will be holding its annual 5k Walk/Run to End Domestic Violence on Saturday, June 4. Safe Voices is partnering with Bates College in Lewistonto expand our event and provide participants with an exciting new course Our goal for the Safe Voices event is to spread awareness about domestic abuse and engage the community in supporting every person’s right to feel safe and live free from violence.
Pre-registration is currently available at www.safevoices.org. Sign up before April 30 to enjoy a $5 early-bird discount on your race registration fee.
Participants can register as either a 5k runner, 5k walker or mile walker. Once registered, participants can raise money by collecting pledge donations for their walk/run efforts. All money raised will fund vital services to victims of domestic violence in Androscoggin, Franklin, and Oxford Counties. Our goal of raising $30,000 cannot be achieved without the support of the individuals and businesses in the counties we serve. So, whether you are an experienced runner or simply interested in raising money for a good cause, we have a race selection for you! Strollers and well- behaved dogs on leashes are welcome.
In its last fiscal year, Safe Voices provided 10,378 hours advocating for victims, provided community education to 7,664 individuals in Androscoggin, Oxford and Franklin Counties, and provided shelter to 126 individuals (including 62 children).
These are just some of the many examples of the work we do every day that are supported through fundraising efforts like the 5k walk/run.

L/A Senior Hockey League registrations
The L/A Senior Adult Hockey League, played in Auburn, will be hosting their summer league registrations on Sunday, April 3 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at The Norway Savings Bank Arena.
Applicants must be 25 years of age. Registration fee will be $275 for those currently playing and registered in the league, $300 for new players. New players will have their names placed on a draft list. The amount of new players entering the league will be based on the amount of openings. A team rep meeting will be held the following weekend to fullfil team openings.
The season will start the weekend of April 15 and 17. Games will be played on Friday nights for the slower division and Sunday nights for the faster division, one game a week. The season ends late August andwill consist of an 18-game schedule.
If you can not make it to registration, you can register by email. Returning players do not need to register but need to contact their team rep, Roger or Matt to confirm their spot for the summer league.
