WILTON — A local woman and a New York man were charged with selling cocaine, after police and drug enforcement agents searched an apartment on Village View Street on Wednesday, Police Chief Heidi Wilcox said in a news release.

Police arrested Arder Prinkleton, 45, of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Crystal Taylor of Wilton on a felony charge of trafficking in cocaine. A conviction is punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.

Prinkleton, known as “H,” was also arrested on a warrant for failure to appear. Illegal drugs were located on his person, Wilcox said.

Officers got a search warrant and found more than 2 ounces of cocaine and more than $6,000 in cash in the apartment, Wilcox said.

Prinkleton and Taylor are each being held on $20,000 cash bail at the Franklin County jail in Farmington. Prinkleton’s bail on the warrant charges is $750.

If bail is not posted, they are scheduled to appear before a judge Friday.

Wilcox said more arrests are expected in the case.

“I am very grateful for the citizens who brought forward complaints to the Wilton police,” she said. “With help from the public and resources, including the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency, drugs which have a street value of approximately $7,000 have been seized.”
