FARMINGTON — The Mt. Blue Regional School District Music Department has announced its upcoming March “Music in Our Schools” concert series, featuring the choruses, bands and orchestras of area schools.
The districtwide concerts are on March 10, 17 and 24 in Bjorn Auditorium at the Mt. Blue Campus. All concerts will begin at 7 p.m. and are free and open to the public.
Participating schools include Academy Hill, Cape Cod Hill and Cascade Brook elementary schools and Mt. Blue middle and high schools.
The districtwide Chorus Festival concert was on March 10. Students in grades five through 12 performed under the direction of Lindsay Burke, Scott Dunbar and Adrian St. Pierre. Accompanists were Patricia Hayden and Krista Lyman.
The district Band-a-rama concert is on Thursday, March 17. Concert bands of students in grades five to 12 will perform under the direction of Karen Beacham and Krista Lyman.
The districtwide Orchestra Celebration concert is on Thursday, March 24. Orchestra students in grades four? through 12 will perform under the direction of Nancy Beacham and Steven Muise.
In case of inclement weather, the two makeup dates for any postponed concerts are Monday, March 28, and Tuesday, March 29.
The Mt. Blue Music Boosters will serve Gifford’s Famous Ice Cream after the concerts for $1 per bowl. Scholarship forms will be available for students in grades five through 11 to attend summer music camps or take private lessons during the summer.
